The Witcher season 2: What are monoliths?

HIT NETFLIX show The Witcher released its second season on Friday, December 17, 2021.
Fantasy drama show based on the book series of the same name written by Andrzej Sapkowski.
What are the rocks on The Witcher?
Monoliths are known to be large pieces of rock, often in the form of towers or columns.
In The Witcher series, monoliths appear across the land – known as the Continent – and hold value to the characters as they discover their purpose.
In season one, Ciri, a magical princess, destroys a monolith with a powerful scream.
The next section deals with the importance of monoliths: they act as portals to another world.
According to The Witcher website, “Monoliths are an ‘unexplainable phenomenon’ – huge columns of obsidian rock scattered across the continent. Scholars study them, but it is not yet known who made them.”
At the end of season two, the demon-possessed Ciri once again used the scream to work with a monolith, this time opening a portal for various monsters to pass through.
It has been found that Ciri’s scream acts as an energy source for the monoliths to open.
What is The Witcher?
Created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, The Witcher first came to Netflix in December 2019. The first and second seasons both consist of eight episodes.

Season one is based on the short stories before The Witcher: The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny series.
Based on IMDB, “Geralt of Rivia, a lone monster hunter, struggles to find her place in a world where humans are often shown to be more cruel than beasts.”
