WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The White House said on Monday it was working to organize a bipartisan endorsement for Federal Reserve nominee Sarah Bloom Raskin after Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin said he would support her nomination as the top banking regulator Fed not support.

“Sarah Bloom Raskin is one of the most qualified individuals ever to be nominated for the Federal Reserve Board of Governors,” a White House official said.

“We are working to get the bipartisan support she deserves so that the Senate can confirm her for this important position,” the official said.
