KOSICE, Slovakia (Reuters) – Heating, water and electricity supplies and telephone connections are working normally in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, Deputy Mayor Mykola Povoroznyk said on TV on Wednesday.
He said authorities hoped to evacuate many more people from the bombed communities of Irpin, Bucha and Hostomel in the Kyiv region.
“We have shelters (refugees), we have trains to send people to the West,” he said, adding that it’s not clear how many people the authorities could help escape.
