CHRISTMAS wouldn’t be Christmas without the festive movie Love Actually.

But a scene that always makes fans cry is where Emma Thompson’s The character finds out that her husband is cheating.

In the movie, she cried non-stop after finding the necklace her husband had bought for his mistress.

The 62-year-old said she tried to make the scene convincing because she herself felt the pain when ex-husband Kenneth Brannagh was unfaithful to her.

Emma and Ken, who have been together for eight years, split up after he ran away with Helena Bonham Carter.

In an interview unearthed from 2018, Emma said at a fundraiser: “The scene where my character stands by the bed crying is very popular because it’s something everyone has gone through.

“I broke my heart so much because of Ken. So I know what it feels like to find a necklace that isn’t for me.

“Well, it’s not exactly that, but we’ve all gotten over it.”

Emma has previously spoken about the alleged affair and in an interview with The Times in 2012, she forgave him.

She said: “I had to practice a lot crying in the bedroom, then having to go out and have fun, collect the pieces of my heart and put them in a drawer.

“That’s… all the blood under the bridge. You can’t keep anything like that. I just thought… pfft.

“It’s pointless. I don’t have the energy for it.. Helena and I made peace years ago… she’s an amazing woman.”

Emma has since been happy forever.

She is married to actor Greg Wise and the two live together in West Hampstead, London.

They married in 2003 in Dunoon and that same year officially adopted a Rwandan orphan and veteran named Tindyebwa Agaba.

The couple also share a daughter, Gaia Wise, born in 1999.
