But polls show that more than 54% of Texans would be strongly or fairly strongly opposed to banning all abortions.
Researchers at the Texas Politics Project at the University of Texas at Austin say 81% of Texans say they would support abortion if the parents’ lives were in extreme danger.
Texas has had the most restrictive abortion law in the country since September, banning abortions after about six weeks of pregnancy.
