A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the killing of a 29-year-old man in the Bronx in broad daylight earlier this month, authorities said.
Jose Chavez, 21, was arrested and charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal weapons possession for his role in the fatal shooting of Rafael Jimenez at 11:30 am on June 7, police officers said.
Jimenez, of Brooklyn, was standing on Walton Avenue near East 183rd Street in Fordham Heights when three men got out of a black Volkswagen and approached him, police said.
One of them then opened fire, hitting the man in the head, authorities said.
Jimenez was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police officers said.
A 15-year-old boy was also caught in connection with the deadly shooting last week, police said.
The teenager, whose name was not released because of his age, surrendered with his mother in the 46th Precinct on Wednesday, authorities said.
He was also charged with murder, manslaughter and double criminal possession of a weapon, police officers said.
The police could not confirm which of the suspects fired the fatal shot.
The motive for the killing remains unclear.
