German Rodriguez, Irma’s younger brother, says he’s spent the last few days talking to neighbors and handing out leaflets and is very worried about his 25-year-old sister.
“We checked the whole neighborhood. We walked everywhere. We even checked the bayous,” Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez says Irma left her phone and left the Alief family home around 1:00 a.m. Monday.
“On the Sunday I saw her, she was acting normal. She’s always happy to see everyone. She always jokes with my parents,” Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez says Irma is physically disabled. He says her right arm is cramped, she has a limp on the right side, suffers from daily seizures and also has some cognitive disabilities. He says she isn’t always able to form sentences or read very well.
“It’s really scary because sometimes we have to take care of them. It’s just really unusual behavior. She’s a really innocent person,” Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez says she typically babysits neighborhood kids and walks dogs, and often makes friends with people she meets.
At this point they don’t know if she went alone or if maybe someone convinced her to go with them. What they do know is that they miss her very much.
“We really want her to be home. We feel like we are missing part of our family right now. We don’t feel complete at all,” Rodriguez said.
If you have any information about Irma’s whereabouts, you are asked to call the Houston Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit at 832-394-1840.
