The right-wing talking point of January 6 just fell apart following the indictment of the founder of Oath Keepers

Stewart Rhodes, founder of the far-right militia group The Oath Keepers, has charged with ambitious conspiracy as part of the US Justice Department’s investigation into the January 6, 2021 uprising. Washington Post reporters Spencer S. Hsu and Devlin Barrett described Rhodes, 56, as a “high profile figure.” most charged in the investigation to date.” And according to Never Trump’s conservative Amanda Carpenter, Rhodes’ arrest sparked a MAGA about the violence that occurred during the Capitol riots.

Ten others were charged along with Rhodes.

Carpenter, who is known for her commentary on CNN and her articles for The Bulwark, noted that “Trump defenders” have stated that the January 6, 2021 violence did not must be an uprising “because people like Rhodes have not been charged.”

“That talking point is now gone,” Carpenter insisted in a Twitter thread. “Anesthesia is being charged.”

Carpenter, who served as communications director for Senator Ted Cruz but now criticizes him as a Trump advocate, commented:

Dave Weigel of the Washington Post also believes that the arrest of Rhodes completely discredits a flawed view of MAGA. Weigel tweeted:

Fox News’ Brit Hume argued, “Let’s base our view on whether June 1 was a ‘revolt’, or whether those arrested were charged with sedition. or not. So far, not yet.” And blogger Marcy Wheeler explains why Hume’s reasoning doesn’t fit:
