RALEIGH, NC (WNCN) — A leaning tree over one of Glenwood Avenue’s busiest areas is driving a Raleigh man mad, so he turned to CBS 17 in hopes of getting answers.
In an email to traffic spokeswoman Laura Smith, Rick Wellington said: “I’ve been watching it tilt for a couple of years now and fear it might fall on a car and destroy all the power lines.”
He says the tree is on Glenwood Ave. 2419, near Carolina Country Club.
“I’m not sure if it’s private property or city priority. I emailed the city arborist a while ago but never got a reply,” Wellington said.
CBS 17 reached out to the City of Raleigh and learned that this Glenwood Avenue location within the beltline is maintained by the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
According to NCDOT spokesman Marty Homan, “This tree has been leaning for several years (about 15). It’s also outside the right of way.”
He said the NCDOT had nothing to do with this.
CBS 17 plans to ask the homeowners questions to see if they’re concerned about the crooked tree and if there are any plans to remove it.
