The Overwatch 2 leak confirms Doomfist’s role reversal with a new tank overhaul

A leaked screenshot of the early Overwatch 2 Alpha seems to have confirmed the long-awaited role swap for Doomfist, putting the Damage hero in the tank role instead.

With the first part of the Overwatch 2 closed beta still a few weeks away, professional players and Blizzard staff alike have been given access to an early alpha version of the game.

Previously, Lead Hero Designer Geoff Goodman emphasized that much of Doomfist’s gear “would fit nicely into a tank role.” Therefore, many of his abilities can remain intact despite the role reversal.

However, in terms of certain changes, the hero may not have the same clout as before. “He’ll lose some damage and gain some defense,” Goodman explained.
