An elderly woman was attacked by a confused stranger in midtown Friday night in another random act of violence in the city, law enforcement sources said.
The 65-year-old woman was punched in the chest by a 37-year-old man at 59 West 35th St. near Sixth Avenue around 5 p.m
Witnesses said the suspect acted erratically and also pushed a second woman to the ground, according to sources. The second victim got up and left the scene.
The 65-year-old reported chest and shoulder pain but had no visible injuries, sources said.
Police officers are said to have arrested the attacker at the scene of the crime. No charges had been filed as of late Saturday.
