The Newsies star claims Disney sent her “mean” reviews after the film stalled

This “Newsies” gossip is fresh off the press.

Actress Ele Keats says Disney sent her “painfully mean” reviews of the film after it flopped at the box office.

The starlet – who was 20 when she appeared in the 1992 film musical – made the sensational claim in an interview with insiders published Thursday.

“I got a phone book like this in the mail with horrible reviews, including some that included personal attacks,” claimed the actress, who is now 50.

Keats said it was “really hard” to read the “terrible” review as she was a budding young actress at the time.

“I think someone in the press department thought maybe I’d enjoy reading them [the mean reviews]’ said the brunette. “I do not know why.”

Meanwhile, Keats’ Newsies co-star Arvie Lowe Jr. told Insider that he’s also received bad reviews from Disney.

He claimed the reviews came in the mail every week and included criticisms claiming the acting was “below average.”

The Post has reached out to Disney for comment on the actors’ allegations.

Keats told Insider that she believes the 1992 film was ahead of its time, saying, “If it could have come out just eight years later, it would have been incredibly successful – ten or 12 years later it would have been a smash hit . ”

The LA-based brunette now works primarily as a jewelry designer for clients such as Diane Keaton, Cameron Diaz and Jessica Biel.

She is still acting on the side, having appeared in episodes of “NCIS”, “Cold Case” and “CSI”.
