A little girl diagnosed with cancer also battled COVID-19 who refused to give up and had the best Christmas in the hospital with loving waiters and a supportive family.
Little Clara Charlton from Grimsby, UK, is only four years old, and she has seen nothing close to an ordinary Christmas other than two extraordinary ones. Not long after the birth, the girl’s mother discovered something unusual – a lump that was getting bigger and harder.
When they visited the doctors at Diana Hospital, Princess of Wales, they realized that Clara had cancer, and she was immediately transferred to Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

CLARA NEVER END TREATMENTS
Before Clara turned one year old, doctors observed their young patient suffering from Denys-Drash Syndrome. This is a rare genetic condition that causes kidney failure and tumors.
Ellie, Clara’s mother, disclosure that her daughter’s kidneys were not normal, and that one side had a tumor. However, the tumor was pushed out and ruptured, leading to a course of radiation therapy.
The procedure eventually affected the living kidney, and the boy was put on dialysis, waiting for a new kidney. They left Sheffield and stayed at Leeds Children’s Hospital for a year, during which time they visited home.
ALL SUPPORT NEEDS
Clara is not Ellie’s only child. The young mother has two others: a 9-year-old named Ebony, and Tally, whom she gave birth to after Clara’s diagnosis. However, with her hands, she tries to show her love for her second child.
The mother-of-three explained that after they went to the hospital for a check-up and started treatment, she always kept a close eye on her baby, sleeping next to her even though she was carrying another baby.
Although this journey has not been easy, as Clara struggled to grow as she wanted, her mother always showed love and support, and she happily continued.
When she was almost two years old, she was still in the hospital, and wouldn’t have been able to celebrate Christmas, but her mother and sisters showed up to gather around their own home.
Staff at the facility also created a harmonious and Santa-like atmosphere by delivering presents to the young lady and other girls.
The first time Clara witnessed Christmas, she was a child. Christmas at the age of two was spent in the hospital while undergoing cancer treatment. The following year, she went on dialysis.
Last Christmas, the 4-year-old was infected with COVID-19 and had to be on a ventilator. The situation panicked her mother, who admitted that the family thought she might never make it. But she did!
Noami Short is another living example. This 10-year-old has been through a lot of health but continues to fight and some positive energy. She has been battling a rare brain cancer, COVID-19 and is currently in rehab.
Short was diagnosed with stage 4 stem cell cancer in 2019. She underwent a series of surgeries to remove the tumor from her brain and spine. Thankfully, she is now cancer-free, and the young beauty queen happily talks about her health.
