The Kardashians are back in the new Hulu series after the COVID pandemic hiatus

Ten million television viewers have watched “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” for 20 years, and after a hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic, the family is returning with a new series on Hulu simply called “The Kardashians,” streaming now.

The Kardashians weren’t the first celebrities to become famous just because they were famous, but they’ve made more money than anyone who couldn’t sing, dance, act, or play sports.

Her medium is social media, and as the old song goes, “Nobody does it better.”

Collectively, the Kardashians have more than a billion and a half followers on social media. Kylie Jenner’s total alone is nearly equal to the entire population of the United States. So why do they need another TV series? And why should we watch?

“You see I do my own thing, Kim does her thing, we all do our own thing,” said Kourtney Kardashian. “When I think of ‘Keeping Up with the Krdashians,’ we were always together like another family member.”

Led by family matriarch Kris Jenner, the Kardashians built a brand by showcasing their various businesses, and so does the new Hulu show.

The youngest of this clan didn’t know life without cameras until the pandemic lockdown imposed a new kind of privacy on all of them.

“I think the show is very special because you get to see more of Kendall and Kylie, and especially Kendall, who I think people find more elusive,” said Khloe Kardashian.

She let her sisters do the talking when they were interviewed by sister station KABC’s Karl Schmid for On the Red Carpet, but in a recent ABC News special hosted by Robin Roberts, Kendall’s experience suggests fame can be a double-edged sword.

“I struggle with my own psychological fears,” she said.

The series offers a glimpse into the balance the stars are struggling with.

“You see, all of this comes at a price,” ABC News’ Rebecca Jarvis said. “There’s the fear. There’s the loneliness that can come from having millions of followers and having to put on a certain face every day.”

The preview special is also available on Hulu and offers a great setup for the series.

Hulu is owned by Disney, the parent company of this ABC network.
