Darius Jr was fatally shot in the parking lot of their apartment complex in the 12200 block. Tidwell police said the 11-year-old boy was walking to his car to get his coat when the suspect, believed to be a teenager, shot him. ta. in the chest.

Now, Darius Sr is keeping memories like boxing with his son. He said Darius Jr was always ahead of his time, growing up to be a smart, respectful, kind guy and a better version of himself.
“He’s so smart and he’s so talented. It’s amazing how certain things are that he will stay or certain perspectives that he has, that would surprise me, and I’ll be impressed. see ‘Oh, this is my son,'” he said. “I remember sleeping with him and I was showering with him. It killed me because he was loved so much. I knew he was going to be something great.”
The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money for funeral expenses.
Galena Park ISD issued the following statement to ABC13 after the 11-year-old student was identified by his family on Friday:
“We are deeply saddened to inform you that one of our students has passed away (Friday.) This student will be missed by all. We extend our sincerest condolences to you. students’ families and friends and ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.Students and staff may react in different ways to the loss of a member of the school community.
