A game of mysteries that reward the player for exploring every corner of its sprawling world, Elden Ring appears to have revealed another mystery.
Ever since Elden Ring appeared on gaming systems worldwide, the game has garnered a huge following of Soul fans new and old alike.
With the massive player base the game has amassed, fans have discovered a ton of new mysteries scattered throughout the murky world of the Land Between. From secret passages disguised as ordinary walls to the ungodly amount of optional items to be discovered, the latest from From Software has enough discoveries to keep the community entertained for a while.
And since the community has grown so large, it seems that something new is discovered every other day.
The latest in a long line of surprises comes in the form of a developer leaving a very cryptic message about a “mountain of fire” in the game.
Elden Ring Developer Uncovers Mystery of “Mountain of Fire”.
editor CellTastic first spotted the developer’s message on a volcanic mountain. In truly cryptic From Software fashion, the message cryptically reads: “I thought this was a mountain of fire, but I hardly feel anything! Sick..”
When the message ended abruptly, it immediately sent the Elden Ring Reddit into a frenzy. Speculation about this mysterious “mountain of fire” began to run rampant across the forums as fans wondered if the treasure was nearby or had some other important meaning.
One user wondered if the abruptly ended story was a developer thrown off a cliff just like Patches does with the player, saying: “Looks like he got the Patches treatment as much as we did. “
In contrast, another player expressed his feelings about the secret, jokingly saying, “I think that’s the point; I believe the developer got pushed into the lava and that’s why he couldn’t finish his sentence, or maybe it’s related to him pausing near the end of the sentence to continue the joke.
While we don’t know what this mystery really is, it seems to exist as a meme at the moment.
The developer’s message appears to be a callback to your handling of patches and the untimely deaths you encounter when following the Rainbow Stones near the Volcano Manor.
Things could change in the future, but for now it seems that “Fire Mountain” is just a joke by the developers.
