The Crown could do a prequel series about 20th century scandals

Fans of “The Crown” may be able to get another new series to binge-watch in the future.

Producers of the Netflix drama are currently discussing the possibility of writing a prequel series based on the royal family, they say diversity.

While The Crown covers the 1947 marriage of Queen Elizabeth II and her reign from the 1950s to the present day, the new show would explore the earlier events of the family’s turbulent history.

The series was reportedly to delve into the death of Queen Victoria in 1901 and then into the dynasties of four British kings: Edward VII (1901-1910), George V (1910-1936), Edward VIII (1936) and George VI ( 1936). -1952).

These sovereigns ruled the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth areas of the country from the post-Victorian era until the beginning of Queen Elizabeth’s monarchy in 1952.

The outlet reported that the new show has not been given the green light, nor is it in production.

In previous seasons of The Crown, Jared Harris played King George VI, while Alex Jennings and Derek Jacobi both played King Edward VIII.

Jennings, 64, originated the role of the controversial Duke of Windsor for seasons 1 and 2. Jacobi, 83, took over the role for season 3, portraying the king in his older years.

George VI and King Edward VIII are known to have had a contentious relationship with the latter relinquishment of the throne after less than a year in power in 1936 so that he could marry his beloved Wallis Simpson.

George then he succeeded and his reign changed the line of succession, with his eldest daughter Elizabeth taking over after his death in 1952.

The Crown is known for changing its main cast every two seasons to age them. The show is scheduled to end after season 6 in 2023 as the final episodes will cover the rule of the sovereign up to modern times.

Claire Foy and Olivia Colman have portrayed the Queen for the last four seasons, with Imelda Staunton taking on the role for the last two seasons.

Season 5 of The Crown is set to premiere later this year, taking viewers through the rocky 1990s of the royal family The Death of Princess Dianathe Queen in 1992 “annu horribilis” and more.

Elizabeth Debicki will be featured as the late Princess of Wales, with Dominic West as Prince Charles, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Jonny Lee Miller as Prime Minister John Major and Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret to round out the A-list cast.

Tragedy struck on set earlier this year when approximately $200.00 worth of gems, silverware and antiques were delivered was stolen from the production site in Doncaster, England. One stolen item was a replica of a rare Fabergé egg that belonged to Queen Elizabeth II’s grandfather, George V, in 1933.

Candelabra, jewellery, a grandfather clock and a birdcage were also among the items looted.
