Respawn Entertainment has been called upon to fix a horrific bug in Apex Legends exploited by Crypto mains where some of its skins cannot be killed.
Crypto was given a buff in the Season 12 update released on February 8th, although the patch notes didn’t say anything about invincibility powers – because it wasn’t supposed to happen.
With this in mind, players are reporting serious issues with Surveillance Expert.
Apex Legends Crypto skin makes some skins invincible
On March 18th, a clip appeared on the Apex Legends subreddit showing a situation where Crypto cannot be shot.
user Hunkle1 posted: “Who knew Crypto would be so broken?” Alongside the message was a short clip on Olympus where a random enemy Crypto stood in the corner manually piloting a drone EMP.
As the Wraith approached the player, it appeared to be demanding an easy kill – repeatedly firing a Rampage LMG at them. But even the headshot bullets didn’t register at all, indicating a problem.
Moments later, Crypto came to life and knocked her out.
For a moment, the hacking legend appeared to be sunk in the nearby wall, before re-emerging to deal damage in an almost invincible manner. This was clearly an unfair shootout and showed the enemy taking advantage of a mistake.
How it works
One player in the comments was all too familiar with the issue. Speaking from experience, user MirkwoodRS said: “This is intentional bug abuse. There is almost no chance of this mistake happening accidentally, so the person doing this is most likely using it on purpose to gain an advantage.”
To avoid encouraging more players to exploit the bug, they were vague in their explanation.
“To do this, one of the masked crypto skins (as in the video) be equipped. The crypto trying to use the bug needs time some since a Revenant totem’s death protection is running low,” they added.
“It basically just messes up a lot of Crypto’s animations and makes him very difficult to hit, making him look like he’s lying on the ground, sliding around, T-posing, etc…”
At the time of writing, Respawn Entertainment has not flagged the bug as one that needs immediate attention – according to it their Apex Legends Trello board.
However, community members will be keeping their fingers crossed for a fix shortly.
