The best new series and movies to stream this week

THERE are more and more TV shows to look forward to this week as some highly anticipated shows hit our small screens.

But not sure where to start? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with the list below.

Top Boy – Netflix

Ashley Walters returns to Netflix as Dushane in Top Boy

Ashley Walters returns to Netflix as Dushane in Top Boy

The mean streets of East London’s Summerhouse Estate call again, and as we return to Dushane (Ashley Walters) for a new eight-part run, the drug dealer feels untouchable after facing the challenge of young rival Jamie (Micheal Station).

Dushane is now the undisputed king of the estate and the money is rolling in, and things are going well for Shelley (Simbi Ajikawo) – he even begins to dream of a completely different future.

But fate inevitably has other ideas, and a sudden and unexpected problem threatens any sense of security and superiority – then Dushane makes Jamie an offer that doesn’t sit well with the rest of the gang…

Meanwhile, Sully (Kane Robinson) is still haunted by the quest to kill Dris, and any hope he had of putting his life back together is fading as he is drawn back into a familiar but cruel world.

Just like previous seasons, Top Boy is hardcore and compromising stuff steeped in violence, drugs, and death. But it’s also more gritty than superfluous.

We Crashed – Apple TV+

If you’ve never heard of Adam Neumann, prepare to be fascinated.

Ten years ago, Israeli entrepreneur Adam rose to fame and fortune as the founder of shared workspace start-up WeWork before falling out of favor spectacularly.

Played by Jared Leto, Adam’s story – and that of his former company – is told in this gripping eight-part drama that chronicles his journey from apprenticeship-style chancellor to charismatic billionaire businessman and eventual forced resignation as CEO of WeWork.

At its core, WeCrashed is about both Neumann’s intense and tumultuous relationship with his wife, Rebekah, and his desire to become a huge hit.

Jared – complete with prosthetic nose – is fantastic as Neumann, a restless whirlwind of energy, big ideas and increasing paranoia, while Anna Hathaway provides the perfect counterpart as the steely Rebekah.

Admittedly, neither character is particularly likable, but thanks to those performances and a welcome dash of dark humor, WeCrashed is a wise investment in your device viewing time.

Forget the showstoppers at Bake Off, the cakes you’ll see in this incredible new competitive baking show are ridiculous. In the right sense.

The name of the game involves some of the world’s most skilled bakers creating cakes that look exactly like everyday objects – from handbags to sewing machines – and then seeing if their creation can fool a panel of celebrity judges.

Should they make it, there are some very real cash prizes up for grabs.

Hosted by US comedian and actor Mikey Day, it’s totally addictive, delicious and downright mind-bending fun.

Dales For Sale – Discovery+

Forget Los Angeles, Sydney and the Hamptons – if you’re looking for addictive real estate agency reality show thrills, the Yorkshire Dales is the place to be.

Yes, this new eight part series follows local estate agent Marcus Alderson and his team as they work around the clock selling, trading and selling stunning properties in one of the UK’s most picturesque locations.

With fierce bidding wars, dramatic dream homes, and enough real estate agent bravery to fill a cavernous barn conversion, it’s a pleasantly homely twist on a familiar TV format.

MotoGP: Unlimited – Amazon Prime

A full-throttle behind-the-scenes look at the 2021 MotoGP World Championship.

The 2021 MotoGP season was a classic.

Not only did young Frenchman Fabio Quartararo win his first world title, it also witnessed the final fight for the legendary Valentino Rossi.

The eight-part full-access docuseries MotoGP: Unlimited looks behind the scenes during this exciting season, giving fans unprecedented and intimate access to top riders – including Quartararo, Rossi and Marc Márquez – and the teams behind them, as they share their Follow stories and off the track.
