The Apprentice’s Amy Anzel sparks outrage when she deletes offensive tweet about gay men

THE Apprentice star Amy Anzel has been criticized for a deleted homophobic tweet she sent while partying in Manchester.
Just days after being branded a “gay icon” by the LGBTQ+ community, Amy, who is starring in the current season of The Apprentice, quickly revoked that status following her offensive tweet.
The beauty, 48, was in Manchester for the city’s Pride events and hit town on LGBTQ + Canal Street.
On Saturday, Amy asked fans for help with the best spots on the famous strip, posting on Twitter: “Queen of gays and crabs is heading to Canal Street in Manchester! Where’s a good place to hang out? ?”
Fans later posted photos of Amy out in town, but it all went downhill as she became so familiar with the community.
“OMG is eaten by h**os,” she tweeted along with a crying and laughing face emoji and a Rainbow Pride flag.
But the backlash was swift and the self-proclaimed “LGTBQ + Ally” was attacked, with many labeling the tweet as homophobic.
“I’m sure you’re adorable but this is really adorable; I have to ask what else besides memes have you done for the LGBTQ+ community? Use this as an opportunity; allyship can be awesome, & while it’s probably not yours This intention is all that’s going on,” one angry fan replied on Twitter.
Another added: “I know you don’t have any malicious intentions but please stop using/regarding us as lying a ‘token’ community. It’s neither your place nor the privilege of a ‘token’ community. you when using such profanity. I know your intentions come from a good place but please do better x.”
And a third wrote: “No, Amy Anzel is an outspoken transgender woman who is quite blatantly exploiting the community to her advantage while making literal homophobic slurs.”
The Apprentice star quickly deleted the tweet following the criticism and later apologized for her comments.
Amy tweeted a few hours after her original tweet: “I just wanted to apologize to the people I was upset with with a tweet I posted last night. As soon as it was pointed out, I took it down. It’s down. It was taken back from a chat – and I’m repeating what my friends said.
The star has achieved celebrity status from the LGBTQ+ community thanks to her star appearance on the BBC reality show.
Hailing from New York, Amy is a beauty brand owner and QVC UK presenter.
Amy also appeared on Channel 4 documentary The Sound Of The Musicals and produced the Happy Days tour in the United Kingdom, where she was also criticized for allegedly homophobic comments.
During the audition, she told dancer Steven Hardcastle to “get rid of gays” and after an awkward silence was followed by “you’re gay, aren’t you?… I love my gays!”
Those comments were met with fury, including from TV star John Barrowman, but Amy insists it was taken out of context.
“Unfortunately, this comment was made completely out of context. In fact, I was giving creative direction to a dancer during an audition for a show I was producing,” she said. with Daily mail.
“To suggest that I’m even slightly homophobic is completely untrue. I’m a huge supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, always and always will be.”
