Texas soldier missing: US Army National Guard confirms disappearance in a river near Eagle Pass

EAGLE PASS, Texas (KTRK) — The Texas Army National Guard said one of its Soldiers supporting enhanced inspections in the state’s border region has gone missing.

In a statement, the state military department said the unidentified soldier disappeared along the river in Eagle Pass on Friday.

The soldier was performing a mission related to Operation Lone Star when the incident occurred and was not located, the statement said.

The watch also dealt with several reports of a death involving a soldier.

“We are aware of reports of one death, although these reports are inaccurate,” the statement said.

The Texas Department of Defense, Texas DPS and Border Patrol are “working quickly” to locate the soldier, the statement said.
