Texas Rep. Robert Howard died after an 18-wheeler car crash, another Rep. was injured

A Texas sheriff’s deputy was killed Wednesday after an 18-wheel truck crashed on a Houston-area freeway and another was injured while being escorted to the hospital, authorities said.
Harris County Deputy Sheriff Robert Adam Howard, 27, died shortly after the incident on State Highway 249 in suburban Houston.
He was initially taken to a hospital in critical condition before dying, authorities said.
While escorting Howard to the hospital, a second deputy was injured on a motorcycle in an accident when authorities were blocking traffic, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.
This deputy was not seriously injured, he said.
Pictures of the scene showed a truck on the side of the freeway and a sheriff’s squad car smashed on its left side with the roof blown off.
All northbound lanes on the freeway have been closed pending investigation by authorities.
