Texas mother Yolanda N’Gaojia was killed while visiting her son’s grave on his birthday

A Texas mother was shot dead in a cemetery on Tuesday while visiting her recently deceased son’s grave for his “first birthday in heaven,” police and her ex-husband said.

Yolanda N’Gaojia, 52, was fatally shot just after 5 p.m. in the Calvary Baptist Church Garden of Memories cemetery in Killeen, Texas. A second victim was not seriously injured, police said.

“I have no words because I can’t believe this is real,” Yolanda’s ex-husband Kineh N’Gaojia wrote on Facebook.

“This is stuff you see [in] movies, but it has become our life. I can’t believe you’re gone…how are you going to kill her at his son’s grave on his birthday???” N’Gaojia wrote.

N’Gaojia told KWTX that she visited her son Amir’s grave on his 22nd birthday. According to his obituary, Amir died on New Year’s Day. He was one of three children that Yolanda and Kineh had together, the outlet reported.

“My children will never be the same again,” Kineh wrote in another Facebook post.

“Those bullets took a precious gem from us but gave us an amazing angel to guide us so you know we’re going nowhere but up because we know how hard you’ve ridden for your family,” the father said .

Killeen Police said the shooting, which they described as “an isolated incident,” is being investigated as a homicide. Police have not yet released the identity of the victims.
