Texas Gov. Abbott slams Mayor Adams over migrants sent to NYC by Biden, the Democrat from El Paso

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott accused Mayor Eric Adams of hypocrisy for attacking his migrant resettlement program while giving a pass to President Biden and the Democratic Mayor of El Paso.

The broadside came amid Adams’ repeated threats to sue “Texas” — without specifying by whom — over the busloads of migrants who have been arriving in the Big Apple almost daily for more than a month.

An Abbott spokesman accused Adams of “flatly lying and selectively attacking Texas bus operations while conveniently ignoring migrants being ferried to New York City by the Democrat-led El Paso and flown by President Biden.”

“Rather than complaining about a few thousand migrants being bussed into his self-proclaimed city of refuge and using those migrants to launch political attacks, Mayor Adams should urge President Biden to take immediate action to secure the border — something the President continues not to do. added Abbott press secretary Renae Eze.

Adams, a Democrat, has been embroiled in a war of words with Abbott since the Republican governor began busing migrants into Washington, D.C., and then expanded the program to New York City.

Abbott, who began sending migrants to Chicago late last month, said the program was designed to protest Biden’s “irresponsible open borders policy” and its impact on border communities in the Lone Star state.

Abbott pointed out that Adams has not complained about migrants being sent to New York City by the city of El Paso or the Biden administration.

Last week, The Post revealed that Adams recently spoke with Democratic Mayor of El Paso Oscar Lesser, who also began sending busloads of migrants into the city while the city was inundated by 200 to 300 a day by about 1,400 .

“We are very grateful to Mayor Adams of New York that he really stood up to help us and he told me when I spoke to him that there is no Venezuelan community in New York,” Leeser said a working session of the El Paso City Council on Sept. 12.

“But he’s going to welcome them into his community and then work with them to bring them into a community where there are peers so they can continue to be there, and that’s really important to him.”

Last year, The Post also revealed that the Biden administration was secretly using chartered planes to fly underage migrants to Westchester County Airport north of the city.

From there, they were bused to visit relatives or sponsors, or taken to a church-based children’s home on Long Island.

These flights were suspended amid the outrage that followed, but the practice was later quietly resumed.

On Sunday, Adams said that “our legal team is reviewing what legal challenges we could address with Texas.”

Adams said city officials are looking at legal ways to stop Texas from sending more buses with migrants.

“We think we have a few options because if you put someone on a bus involuntarily, we think it’s actually against the law,” he added.

Abbott’s rep insisted his surgery was 100% legal.

“Migrants on Texas buses willingly chose to go to New York after signing a voluntary waiver upon boarding, available in multiple languages, that they had agreed on the destination,” Eze said.

“Each bus is stocked with food and water and will stop en route to refuel and change drivers. Migrants are allowed to purchase any supplies they need or disembark at any of these stops as they have been processed and cleared by the federal government.”
