THIS is the shocking moment a football thug STARTED an opponent fan hurling beer at him at a train station.

Southampton FC fan collapsed to the ground after he was attacked by a Portsmouth FC fan at Basingstoke station.

Police are hunting for the unidentified attacker, who formed part of a crowd that sang vile songs around 8:20 p.m. Saturday.

The clip was shot hours after Southampton’s home FA Cup win over Coventry – and Portsmouth’s League One loss away at Oxford.

Footage shows the Saints fan looking bewildered in the midst of a crowd of Portsmouth fans, who mock and sing songs around him.

The song boasts about hitting their opponents “with bricks” because “he makes me feel nauseous”.

Beer was hurled at the man – before a Portsmouth fan wearing a green jacket grabbed him by the head.

The victim collapsed to the ground – seemingly unconscious – and was seen receiving first aid from passersby.

Portsmouth Football Club has condemned the attack and is investigating.

A club spokesman said: “We are aware that police are currently investigating an incident that is believed to have been around since the weekend.

“Portsmouth Football Club does not tolerate any form of violence related to football, either inside or outside the stadium.”

British Transport Police have launched a manhunt for the attacker.

A spokeswoman said: “Officers were called to Basingstoke station at 8:21pm on February 5, following reports of a fight.

“A man was assaulted, but refused medical treatment.

“Inquiries about the case are ongoing and any witnesses who have not spoken to police can contact the BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 612 May 22, 2017 .”

A Hampshire Constabulary football unit said of the victim: “Considering what happened, he’s fine.”
