Terrifying moment female referee was hit in the mouth by an ice hockey stick and forced to leave the field with blood pouring out of her mouth

ICE HOCKEY referee Cianna Lieffers, bleeding from her mouth after being stabbed in the face by Amanda Kessel’s stick.

Team USA was skating past the Lieffers but looked the other way as she let her stick hang in the air.

And even though Lieffers was standing next to the last board at the perimeter of the rink, she received an almighty blow to the face.

That connection made the introduction in her mouth and she immediately put her hand to her face in pain.

Lieffers then received medical attention with the Canadian coaching team escorting her off the ice.

But amazingly she was patched and returned to the field quickly, ending the rest of the match.

Canadians seem to be signaling to photographers not to take pictures.

Her return also signaled a turning point for Canada, as they overturned a 2-1 deficit to win 4-2.

They have now won all four of their group stage matches and will be the first seed to reach the knockout stages.

Canda performed well at Winter Olympic Games to date and their number of medals is six ranked third in total medals.

They have two more medals than the US, including a gold, and of course they will soon win another thanks to the Women’s Hockey Team.
