Teenager is second death in Robeson County birthday party shooting

PEMBROKE, NC (WBTW) — A teenager wounded in a shooting at a birthday party in the Pembroke area early Sunday morning died Sunday, the second person to be killed in the incident, according to the Robeson Sheriff’s Office County.

Randi Hunt, 20, of Rowland, was shot and killed just after midnight on Sunday at the house on Block 1100 of Jones Road, MPs said. When emergency services arrived, she was found dead.

The 15-year-old boy died after being flown to a Chapel Hill hospital.

“As with some previous shootings in this county, we have a lot of local people who witnessed this act who need to get the truth out,” Sheriff Burnis Wilkins said in a Facebook post. “Detectives have been out all night working on the case while this release is being prepared.”

A murder investigation is underway, but MPs have not released any information about a possible suspect. Pembroke Police also responded to the scene.

“The fact is that in this case, truth prevails and the suspects are known. In this case, do not get involved before or after as an accomplice. Just come out with the truth,” Wilkins also wrote.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 910-671-3170 or 910-671-3100.
