Taylor might not be so quick when it comes to saving the planet.
Everyone thought Kylie Jenner was to blame for causing the most carbon emissions with her 17-minute private jet rides, but the reality star may not be the “biggest climate change culprit,” the tab reported.
Research by sustainability-focused marketing firm Yard put private jet use on the A-list, and Jenner didn’t even make the top 10 list of celebrities who’ve emitting the most carbon from their pajamas so far this year.
The results showed that Taylor Swift’s private jet journeys emitted 8,293.54 tons of carbon in 2022, putting her at #1 on the list.
Even when she’s not touring, her average flight time is 80 minutes, averaging 139.36 miles per flight, according to the report.
While Swift was named the top “offender” by Yard, Floyd Mayweather was right behind her with 7,076.8 tons of CO2 emissions.
As for Jenner, her 24.5-minute average flight time didn’t even match that of her boyfriend, Travis Scott, who was #10 on Yard’s list, nor her sister Kim Kardashian, who’s #7.
Rounding out the list were Jay-Z, Alex Rodriguez, Blake Shelton, Steven Spielberg, Mark Wahlberg, and Oprah Winfrey.
While social media is quick to label Jenner a “climate criminal,” Swift doesn’t get exactly the same reaction: Many of her “Swifties,” as her fan base is dubbed, lashed out at “pollution (Taylor’s version).”
“A random blog not credible and tweeted by someone who needed interaction not to defend Taylor but at least use better sources if you want to point out something he couldn’t even do arithmetic properly lmao.” tweeted one person in defense of Swift.
“She’s planted more trees than all these celebrities combined; your argument is invalid. I’m serious, she was also one of the biggest single responders to the wildfires in Australia.” another claimed.
However, there are still a few people who call them.
“Any celebrity who can afford a private jet will own one and use it like a scooter.” read another tweet. “The people trying to deal with it are hilarious.”
