For $10 a month, Taco Bell customers can get one taco per day for 30 days straight. The national program, called Taco Lover’s Pass, is available for purchase starting Thursday to members of its rewards program and who have downloaded the Taco Bell app.
A variety of tacos are included in the subscription, including its soft tacos, spicy potato tacos, crispy tacos, and its Doritos tacos. Once the customer signs up, a special section of the app will be unlocked and the customer can add the tacos to their cart during checkout.
Taco Bell tested the program in September 2021 in Tucson, Arizona. The chain has tested with prices ranging from $5 to $10 and said in a release that it has increased its rewards program by 20%. Doritos Locos Tacos Supreme is the most purchased tacos.
Subscription services are more popular for streaming, but restaurants have experimented with them, too. This week, Sweetgreen announced a $10 sale that allows customers to get $3 off each order for a month. Panera has an $8.99 monthly program that allows customers to get a free cup of hot or iced coffee each day.
Taco Bell can hope to experiment with turning regular customers into repeat customers and increasing sign-ups to its loyalty program. The idea is to lure people in with a free taco and hopefully add more to their order and increase the amount they spend at the restaurant. It also provides restaurant owners with information on ordering habits that help target diners with customized deals.
Yum Brands, which owns the taco chain, said last year that it was aiming to increase digital sales with more exclusives. App users who signed up for its loyalty program spend 35% more than they did before joining.
