Suspected drunk driver Miguel Espinoza has been charged after he crashed into a golf cart in Galveston, killing two children and two adults

GAVLESTON, Texas (KTRK) — A suspected drunk driver is charged after he crashed into a golf cart and truck, killing two children and two adults on Saturday night, police say.

Miguel Espizona, 45, is on $400,000 bail charged with quadruple manslaughter for intoxication.

At approximately 11:35 p.m., officers responded to an accident near the intersection of 33rd Street and Avenue R.

Investigators said Espizona was driving east on Avenue R in a black Hyundai SUV and did not stop because he struck the golf cart that was going north and a Dodge pickup truck that was going south.

First responders reported a mass casualty incident, police said, calling in additional ambulances and other first responders.

The driver of the golf cart died at the scene. Investigators said a woman and two youths in the golf cart were taken to the hospital, where they later died.

Police said Espinoza and his passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries and later released. Authorities said Espinoza is in custody.
