Suspect in custody after firing gun at Raleigh police during car chase, officials say

RALEIGH, NC (WNCN) – Raleigh Police said a suspect shot officers during a chase Thursday. He has since been taken into custody.
The pursuit ended near the intersection of New Bern Avenue and N. New Hope Road. A CBS 17 crew at the scene showed that the intersection was closed and surrounded by crime scene crime scene tape.
From 1 p.m. at the latest 12 marked Raleigh Police Department cruisers were on site. Two ambulances were initially on site, but have since removed.
A silver Honda sedan with frontal damage and a deployed airbag was also part of the crime scene.
Police did not say what led to the pursuit and shooting, or reveal the suspect’s identity.
Authorities said no officers were hit by the shots. It is currently unclear whether the suspect or anyone else was injured in the incident.
