A 29-year-old man was formally charged on Friday for the gruesome murder of a family of three in Queens over the summer, police said.
Travis Blake was extradited to New York City and beaten on three counts of manslaughter in connection with the deaths of Darlene Barnett, her son Dervon Brightly, 36, and her niece Vashawnna Malcolm, 22, police officers said.
Blake, who was visiting from Jamaica and was 55-year-old Barnett’s estranged boyfriend, is accused of fatally stabbing the three family members at Barnett’s home in South Jamaica on June 24, police officers said.
Two days later, police discovered the blood scene, according to police.
Cops shortly thereafter identified Blake as a suspect, and the Regional Fugitive Task Force picked up the man in Maine on July 1, cops said.
