Surina Jindal and Melanie Chandra Talk Center’s New Comedy, “Hot Mess Holiday” – CBS Baltimore

CBS Local – If you’re in the mood for a holiday break that doesn’t have the same cookie-cutter storyline, Comedy Center have what you are looking for with “Hot Mess Holiday”. Premiering Saturday, December 11, the film stars Surina Jindal and Melanie Chandra, two real-life best friends who also serve as executive producers along with co-stars Kal Penn, writer Sameer Gardezi and co-stars Kal Penn. Directed by, Jaffar Mahmood.
“This is the core creative team that came together to really come up with a perfect creative pitch,” says Jindal.

So what sets this holiday movie apart? Chandra summarizes the plot in a few lines:
“It happens during Diwali, which is the Indian festival of lights. Mel was dumped by her cheating boyfriend, so her best friend Surina came to the rescue, saying ‘I need to take you around Chicago this weekend.’ So they party hard and they get into a diamond faucet and then things explode from there.”
Jindal and Chandra admitted that their characters in “Hot Mess Holiday” are quite similar to them in real life.

“We are each other’s yin and yang,” Chandra said. “I am a super A person, like my apartment in real life is like white furniture, white carpet. I’d be mad if you put your shoes on there. ”
Jindal relates to her character as well as calling herself a “nomad” just like the movie. “I moved out of my apartment in New York in May and I’ve been a nomad ever since. The same goes for Surina in the movie, so it’s a bit too close to reality.”
The two say audiences can expect a steady stream of cameos among the all-star cast, which includes Titus Burgess and Chris Parnell. Kal Penn, who plays himself, appears throughout the story, offering advice, a listening ear and, of course, bringing in some pretty loud laughs.
“Hot Mess Holiday” premieres December 11 on Comedy Central.
