(Hill) – The New York attorney general’s office is said to have subpoenaed former President Donald Trump and his two children, Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump, Jr., as part of a civil investigation into business practices. business of the Trump Organization.

Attorney General Letitia James (D)’s office said the subpoena was issued “in connection with an investigation into the valuation of owned or controlled properties.” according to The Associated Press.

ABC News reported that Ivanka and Donald Jr. refused to comply with the subpoena. “A dispute has arisen between OAG and the Trump Parties regarding the Subpoena,” a court document filed Monday said.

The dispute went public when the judge scheduled a Monday briefing on the matter, CNN added.

Eric Trump, who served as the company’s executive vice president, was subpoenaed and provided his testimony late last year, CNN also noted.

The attorney general’s office also previously subpoenaed former President Trump with a deadline of January 7, a move that the former president’s lawyers said they would fight.

“Letitia James is the most unethical Attorney General this country has ever seen,” Alina Habba, Trump’s attorney, said in an emailed statement to The Hill.

“The way she weaponizes her office through this political witch hunt goes beyond all limits of procedural standards and violates fundamental constitutional rights. Her actions are a threat to our democracy and I intend to hold her accountable to the fullest extent,” Habba added.

Last month, Trump sued James, called the civil investigation an attempt to undermine him politically and accused James of violating his constitutional rights.

“Her mission was guided solely by political hatred and a desire to harass, threaten, and retaliate against a private citizen she views as a political opponent,” the lawsuit states.

Hill has reached out to the New York attorney general’s office for comment.
