Stephen A. Smith trolls Chris Russo for dumping Mike Francesa

man bites dog

When Chris “Mad Dog” Russo scolded former Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill on Wednesday’s episode of “First Take,” Stephen A. Smith turned the tables on him.

Russo had ripped up the wide receiver for chasing “a few extra bucks” after it was revealed Wednesday that Hill was en route from Kansas City after contract talks between the two parties collapsed. Hill has since been traded to the Dolphins and signed a lucrative four-year, $120 million, $72.2 million guaranteed extension.

“Why do you sit there and give up that quarterback and that coach with this franchise when they’re in the championship game every year to sit down with a quarterback that can’t get you the ball,” Russo barked.

Smith, who seemed to know that angle was coming, fired back at Russo for leaving Mike Francesa and the perennial No. 1 radio show in New York City for a few extra bucks at Sirius XM.

“I remember that big show called ‘Mike and the Mad Dog,'” Smith replied. “It was an institution. It started Sports Talk Radio. It did its thing, okay? While you know something? Mad Dog is gone! Has his own fucking channel! And I’m sure that wasn’t okay for a few bucks more. Guess what? You have made a business decision. What’s wrong with Tyreek Hill doing this?”

Russo responded that he was there 19 years, but given that radio careers last so much longer than football livelihoods, that’s relatively proportional to Hill, who spent six seasons in Kansas City.

It’s not often someone can nail the Mad Dog with a TKO in a sports dispute, but this was a powerful uppercut from Smith.
