BOSTON (AP) – Steven Stamkos scored at 1:31 of extra time, and Tampa Bay Lighting recovered from a two-goal lead Saturday night, beating the Boston Bruins 3-2.
Taylor Raddysh scored his first career goal, a short one in the early stages, and Ondrej Palat also scored for the defending Stanley Cup champions. Andrei Vasilevskiy saved 37 shots, and Stamkos scored a point for the sixth straight game.
Charlie Coyle and Curtis Lazar scored after the Bruins were 2-0 down early in the second half. Jeremy Swayman made 22 saves for the Bruins, who overcame Lightning 39-25.
Opening game against Nashville – the third of 22 NHL games of his career – Swayman let Tampa Bay take the lead when he was hit by a short arm strike from Raddysh late in the first half.
The Lightning took a 2-0 lead in the second half, taking advantage after a possession of Boston, in which they hit goal twice – once in a David Pastrnak shot over the bar and again. when Brandon Carlo’s shot went past the keeper but it went wide. post and go. In the next confrontation, Palat shot it off Tomas Nosek’s skateboard and overtook Swayman.

The Bruins’ top guard, Charlie McAvoy, was scratched during the match with a non-COVID-related illness. The Bruins recalled defender Jack Ahcan, along with striker Oskar Steen, from AHL’s Providence earlier in the day.
The Bruins are also without coach Bruce Cassidy, who was included in the league’s COVID-19 protocol on Tuesday. Assistant Joe Sacco has been on the bench in the last three games.
