Stalking: METROLift driver under investigation for molesting mother and daughter of passengers

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – A METROLift Houston contract driver is being investigated for allegedly molesting a senior citizen and her adult daughter.

Sammie Ford regularly takes METROLift to her doctor’s appointments and often brings her daughter Adriana along to help. At the end of March, such a ride seemed perfectly normal.

“He was just a regular driver, he got us where we needed to go and that was it,” said Adriana.

The same driver showed up two weeks later when they again requested a METROLift. This time, according to the Fords, he began acting unusually.

“After he picked us up and we walked down the street, he locked all the doors. And he started asking me where you’re all from,” Ford said.

The Ford women say the driver continued to make them uncomfortable, and phone calls began after the drive.

“The calls that kept coming that morning he kept asking, well we need to know who you visited, for our records, and he kept calling,” Adriana said.

The woman says the driver returned to her house a second time and rang the doorbell, but they weren’t home. The visit was recorded with Ring’s doorbell camera. The mother and daughter filed a complaint with the Metro Police.

“(We) are actively investigating a harassment complaint against a contractor’s employee that arose on April 3, 2022,” METRO Houston said on Friday, adding that they are in contact with prosecutors.

The Ford women say they want to press charges of harassment, but so far Metro Police say the investigation is ongoing. While they continue to use METROLift, they are suspicious.

“It makes me angry, I love my daughter and I don’t want her to get hurt,” Ford said. “So, it’s alarming.”
