Stalker 2 release date is now ‘unconfirmed’

Stalker 2 was originally scheduled to launch in April 2022 before being pushed back to December 2022 and then a vague 2023 release window. Now that release window appears to have been pushed back even further, with no confirmed release date given. Messages shared by XGP inform those who pre-ordered the game that they will be refunded and the pre-order button on the Xbox storefront has also been removed.

The first-person shooter sequel is being developed by Ukrainian studio GSC Game World, a Kyiv-based developer. In March 2022, Czech website Vortex reported that several employees at the studio had relocated to Prague amid Ukraine’s war with Russia. In June 2022, GSC released a harrowing June developer diary detailing his team’s experiences developing a game while his country was under attack. Several GSC Game World employees were shown in the diary who had volunteered for the war.
