Spanish twins born to a ‘mermaid’ – in the amniotic sac

blank

According to one report, in 1 in 80,000 “mermaid” births, a Spanish twin was born – with an intact amniotic sac.

Normally, water rupture occurs when a mother’s water ruptures before labor begins.

The newborns were successfully delivered by caesarean section in Valencia on Wednesday, The Mirror reported.

The rare outcome is also known as a “veiled” or “en caul” birth.

“First veiled cesarean section I saw and I loved it and I don’t tell students (although I admit I’m the one screaming)” wrote OBGYN Ana Teijelo on Twitter.

She also shared photos of the twins on social media, “with permission of course.”
