Sova was hit with a pretty noticeable nerf to his Shock Bolt and Owl Drone, and not everyone in the Valorant community is too happy about it.
At the start of Episode 4, Riot Games promised that there would be a number of changes to Valorant’s Agents through regular updates – both in the form of buffs and nerfs.
Over time, they’ve fulfilled that promise with a number of tweaks, and recently revealed that Jett would be hit with a pretty big nerf. Korean Duelist’s Tailwind ability now has a short delay when used, and she can lose charges when not used, although she can regain them through kills.
Since players have been quite divided over the Jett changes, it seems like Sova and his Owl Drone have also been hit with a sizeable downgrade, and fans aren’t too happy about these changes either.
The Sova changes were highlighted on April 24 by Alliance Pro Enzo ‘Fea’ Mestari, who noted that the effects of Sova’s Shock Bolt and Marking Dart had been skewed.
“Shock Dart now only deals 75 damage. The drone only lasts 8 seconds and now only scans twice,” says the French professional tweeted with an attached rolling-eyed emoji. He also explained that the “first tick” of the drone’s surveillance arrow is now “much later” than before, although the drone’s HP is unaffected.
Previously, Sova’s shock could deal a maximum of 90 damage, use the drone for 10 seconds, and scan marked enemies three times. So these are pretty significant changes for the hunter.
• Shockdart now does 75 dmg
• Drone only lasts 8 seconds and now only scans twice

“What the hell are they doing with Sova?” asked one player. “RIP Sova,” added many others, who suggested the Hunter will give way to Valorant’s newest initiator, Fade.
It remains to be seen how the meta will play out after the agent changes, but don’t be shocked if you see Sova get some love later on.
