Southeast Houston residents are cleaning up a trail of destruction left by high winds at a condominium

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — People in southeast Houston are cleaning up after high winds toppled bricks and damaged roofs at a condominium.

Gregory Thibodeaux couldn’t believe what just seconds of a strong storm did to his Sharpstown condo on Sands Point Drive. His window was blown out around 9:30 a.m. by an awning that came down from another building

Thibodeaux said he felt the walls shake, heard a loud noise, a bang and then a crash. Photos he gave to ABC13 show the aftermath. He says it’s a miracle he was unharmed.

“You know, within two, five seconds of waking up, that thing came flying through my window,” he said. “Bring all the debris on me. I have everything on my skin. I’m surprised I wasn’t cut up, thank you Jesus. Because I was wearing a tank top and barely had a blanket on.”

Thibodeaux said he chooses to look on the bright side though, saying the only things he needs to replace at this point are his bed and TV.
