He gouged out her irises because he didn’t want her to look at him in front of the horrific murder scene, he informed the police.

23 years old, from Uxbridge, West London, denied the murder charge at Oxford Crown Court.

The jury was today shown a happy photo of the couple taken just two days before the gruesome murder.

It is alleged that O’Hara-Wright incited his mother because he thought she was “a demon”.

The jury heard how after killing Ms. Wright, her son ran away leaving her body at the Watlington Hill National Trust estate.

He ran into a road and jumped into the car of a passing motorist before “smashing” the terrified woman driving and forcing her towards the Oxfordshire village of Christmas Common.

He jumped out of his car and ran through the countryside before giving himself such a severe shock that he had to have his arm amputated.

Prosecutor Alan Blake told the jury that O’Hara-Wright then broke into a nearby ranch where the occupants were taking a sauna.

It is assumed they found him a while later, naked and covered in blood in their bathroom and raised the alarm.

The court heard on the afternoon of October 23 last year, the 23-year-old tried to flee the scene after killing his mother Carol.

Mr Blake told the jury: “Daniel has not been diagnosed with any mental disorder but members of his family have observed some increasingly strange and erratic behaviour.”

At one point early in the walk, Daniel is said to have carried out a violent attack on his mother and fatally wounded her.

He used a cane, a broken glass bottle and his feet before “removing both her eyes”.

O’Hara-Wright allegedly then ran across the woods to a pond, where he dumped some of his personal belongings before jumping on top of his car.

Among the discarded items was the 23-year-old’s coat – which had an eyeball of his mother’s in his pocket, the court heard.

Then he jumped out of the car and continued across the country until he came to a large secluded house.

Prosecutor Alan Blake said: “He was naked and met the officers’ instructions to get to the floor but it was clear that he suffered multiple serious injuries.

“One of the officers, Pc Cartwright, asked him if anyone was hurt. At first he said nothing but then he said ‘I hurt my mother’.

“At 19:45 that evening, O’Hara-Wright was arrested on suspicion of murder. He calmly replied that ‘that’s fine, I understand’ before adding ‘it’s kill or be killed’.”

Daniel was stabbed in the throat and groin with a knife and taken to the hospital.

Mr. Blake explained: “Dr. Kennedy, under the guidance of his defense, concluded that Daniel suffered from paranoid schizophrenia. His illness became severe and rapid in the hours before the crime. .”

“At the time of the murder, Daniel described visual hallucinations and paranoia in which his mother transformed into a demon.

“He saw the change in her eyes.

“He then hit her with a bottle and smacked her in the face to remove her eyes so she couldn’t see him.

Kennedy’s expert opinion, Daniel believes he is defending himself against attack by a human and not a human and he believes himself to be a god .”

During the hearing, the jury was told graphic details had been revealed during the forensic examination of his mother’s body.

Mr Blake explained: “There was also semen found on the jacket which created a DNA profile that matched Daniel’s profile.”

The court said an autopsy conducted by Dr Brett Lockyer found Ms Wright died from acute upper airway obstruction along with blunt force trauma to the head, neck and chest as well as lateral neck compression. outside.
