Amy Grant is in stable condition after being rushed to hospital following a bicycle accident.
The 61-year-old singer was in Nashville on Wednesday (July 27) when she fell while riding a bike with a friend.
She was immediately taken to Vanderbilt Hospital, where she was treated for cuts and abrasions, Grant’s rep confirmed persons.
The “Baby Baby” singer was kept in the hospital overnight as a precaution, but her condition remains stable. She was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The mishap comes two years after the Christian pop singer confirmed she underwent successful open-heart surgery in June 2020 to correct a rare abnormality she was born with.
Grant – who is married to singer Vince Gill – has been diagnosed with PAPVR (partial anomalous pulmonary venous return), a heart condition that causes excessively oxygenated blood to back up into the lungs.
Symptoms are often shortness of breath during physical exertion and low endurance.
“I think women tend to put their health on the back burner,” Grant said Good morning America last year. “It’s more like, ‘Oh, my kids, my grandkids, my job, my spouse.'”
“All those things and we need each other’s gift. So even if you’re like, ‘Oh, I don’t have anything on my radar,’ just ask someone else to check it out.”
