Shelter Old Woman Homeless girl and robber sneaked into her house that night – Story of the day

When Rose saw the snow begin to fall, she took a homeless girl, Sarah, home for the night. However, the elderly woman woke up to some noise and screaming. Then she saw the girl shivering and holding a pan in her hand. That’s when Rose knew she had to do more for Sarah.

“Do your best, girl. It will soon start to snow quite heavily. Come with me,” insisted Miss Rose Walton, pulling the homeless girl upstairs from the outside of the local bakery. “I can’t have a good conscience to let a girl like you be trapped like this.”

“I’m not exactly a girl, ma’am. I’m 18,” replied the girl with a twisted smile but followed the old woman.

“Please, girl. You may be 18, but when you’re my age, you see everyone under 20 as a little girl. Although, you definitely look 18 years younger. Now, let’s talk as we walk to my house. I’m Rose Walton. What’s your name?” the older woman asked sternly as she continued to prop up her cane.

“I’m Sarah, Miss Walton, and you really don’t have to do this. I can go back to the shelter…” Sarah continued.

“What happened at the shelter?”

“Let’s just say there are some bad people out there, and the people who run it aren’t any better,” she revealed to the elderly woman.

“See? That’s the thing. All our tax dollars are filling people’s pockets instead of changing lives. But you’re coming home to me tonight, and we’ll see what we can.” do tomorrow,” Mrs. Walton comforted the young woman.

They finally made it to her home, in a suburb of Jackson, Wyoming. Sarah looked at it in amazement, as if it were like a Christmas movie with tons of decorations and a cozy feel.

“You will have to forgive me. I love Christmas, and I’ve collected tons of decorations all my life,” said Ms. Walton humorously as she opened the door and led Sarah inside.

“Oh, no, Miss Walton. I also love Christmas. I haven’t enjoyed it in a long time since my mother passed away,” Sarah replied. Rose looked at her tenderly and insisted on a cup of her hot chocolate as well as her freshly baked Christmas cookies.

Sarah sipped from the cup and ate the cookies with delight. They also talked about her difficult life. The young girl’s mother died when she was 14 years old and she had to move in with her aunt, who was very bad.

“I tried to stay away from that house as much as possible. I’ve been out on the streets for over a year now and I don’t have any family left,” she explained, still enjoying the cookies.

Meanwhile, Rose tells her about her life, her life is very different. She had a wonderful family growing up, but she decided marriage wasn’t for her after several failed relationships. Instead, she spends her time building a career and volunteering at several charities.

“Now, I’m just trying to enjoy life because I can’t work anymore. Aging is a pain. I can’t even volunteer like I used to because I have this stupid stick. But I still feel like a 20 year old kid. It’s funny isn’t it? ” Rose laughed and Sarah joined in.

They continued to cuddle like ex-girlfriends until Rose brought out a cozy blanket when it was time to sleep. Sarah will sleep on the couch that night because her spare room doesn’t have any furniture.

“I apologize for not having a bed, but my empty bedroom has been my storage for many years. I’ve been selling a lot of stuff lately and I’m planning on turning it into a craft room. Maybe now it will be the guest bedroom,” said the elderly woman as she arranged things on the living room sofa. Sarah takes over when she sees Rose struggling and thanks her for everything before saying good night.

Rose went to bed with a smile on her face and the faint sounds of the TV while Sarah watched. However, a loud bang woke her up a few hours later and there was some sort of scuffle coming from the living room.

Oh no! Did I make the mistake of inviting Sarah to my house? Is she robbing me? Rose wondered to herself while standing up and wearing a robe over her pajamas.

Finally, she heard the front door close with a loud bang and was brave enough to go into the living room. Once there, Rose spotted Sarah on the floor with her back to the front door. She was shaking and holding her cast iron skillet in one hand.

“Sarah! Oh my God! What happened?” Rose yelled, trying to lunge at her with her cane.

“Multiple sclerosis. Walton! I’m so sorry! I shouldn’t have come!” Sarah cried, and sobs filled her body.

“What? Calm down girl. Tell me what happened”, the older woman urged, looking down at the girl because she couldn’t get to her knees.

“Some women tried to break into the house. I mean, they opened your front door like it was nothing. But I hit one of them with your pan. I hope that’s okay,” Sarah explained tearfully, lifting the cast iron skillet to articulate her opinion.

“Well, it’s okay because of me. But that pan is quite heavy. No wonder you scared them off,” Rose commented and laughed. One good thing about old age is that you don’t get mesmerized much. She can find humor in everything.

“It’s no fun, Miss Walton. This is my error. I think they followed me here and waited until we were both asleep to steal something from you. Those are just a few of the bad guys in the bunker,” Sarah scolded, wiping her tears and getting up from the floor.

Rose took her hand and led her back to the couch. She comforted the young woman, assuring that this was not her fault. “In fact, you have protected me and my house from any harm. You are my hero. For now, we should still call 911, and you can tell them all you know,” Rose added as they sat down.

The officers showed up a few minutes later, and Sarah explained everything that had happened, describing the women trying to get inside.

The next day, Rose tells her that she can stay at her house forever to reward her bravery. But it was a ploy because she really enjoyed Sarah’s company. She also found the young girl a good job and helped her enroll in community college classes afterward.

Sarah lived with her after graduation and became like the granddaughter Mrs. Walton never had.
