Working in close proximity to someone for years can be a blessing or a curse. But for Shailene Woodley and Theo James seems closer to the former. The pair portrayed on-screen lovers Beatrice “Tris” Prior and Tobias “Four” Eaton that different movies. Throughout the three films, the couple developed a genuine friendship based on trust and respect.
Although Woodley had previously made a name for himself in Hollywood different, she seemed to have no ego. This was something James appreciated, especially since he was a newcomer to the industry at the time. In conversation with Games Radarthat Downton Abbey alum described Woodley as refreshing. He also stated that she is open to collaboration and brings a sense of honesty to the work.

“When we were shooting she was great at it and what we managed to do was really ground the work,” James explained of Woodley. “And, as pretentious as that sounds, bring it back to fact [that] The reason you are there is because you are trying to tell a story of two people or multiple people. She’s so great at it, very emotionally intuitive and able to bring the truth into something under even the craziest of circumstances.”

Citing his intelligence and dedication to the craft of acting, Woodley took the opportunity to sing James’ praises.

“Theo didn’t become an actor until he was in his late 20s,” Woodley began. “And that’s how he lived his whole life. He went to university; he studied philosophy. He’s an intellectual and the best thing about working with him is that he’s just – he’s got class. He’s a gentleman and he gets this industry for what it’s worth. You know, he loves to act, but the excess of everything doesn’t bother him at all. And he doesn’t let it get to him, which is really a luxury.”

Woodley couldn’t think of anything negative to say about James
Apparently, Woodley appreciated that James wasn’t interested in the celebrity side of acting. But what were the disadvantages of working with that sand tone star? When Woodley was pressured about the negatives, she couldn’t find anything substantial.
“There’s nothing wrong with working with him,” Woodley said frankly. “I’m so fortunate to have a partner in all of this who just loves being an actor and who loves the art of acting.” Clearly, James and Woodley enjoyed working on the Divergent films together, even if they fell short at the end of the series.
