Severe thunderstorm warning issued for 4 central NC boroughs

RALEIGH, NC (WNCN) – A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for four counties in central North Carolina.
The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a severe thunderstorm warning through 6:45 p.m. for all of Harnett and Lee counties and south-west counties of Wake and Chatham
The thunderstorm was spotted by radar at 5:52 p.m. southeast of Sanford and was moving at a speed of 45 miles per hour.
Wind gusts of up to 100mph are expected, along with dime-sized hail, damage to roofs, sidings and trees.
In addition, the Cary, Sanford, Pittsboro, Lillington, Garner, Fuquay-Varina, Angier, Goldston, Apex and Holly Springs areas are currently being asked to take precautionary measures.
