San Francisco 49ers end with £500m acquisition of Leeds Utd

December 7 – The American football team San Francisco 49ers are reported to have “an agreement” to buy English Premier League club Leeds United.

The investment arm of the NFL franchise, 49ers Enterprises, increased their stake in Leeds to 44% in November and now appear to have an option to take full ownership of more than £500m Brother.

Leeds chairman Andrea Radrizzani remains the majority shareholder but reports say the 49ers are expected to take control before January 2024.

Leeds are currently 14th in the Premier League after 15 games, finishing ninth last season in their first season back to the top since 2003-04.

Leeds vice-chairman Paraag Marathe, president of 49ers Enterprises, told the BBC in May that the 49ers’ plans were “pure” and promised to make Leeds “one of the biggest clubs in the world”.
