FORMER Arsenal star Bacary Sagna has called former team-mate Samir Nasri a ‘madman’ after claiming he can sometimes be too outspoken in the dressing room.
Through 38 years old insists that he respects his French compatriot for his honesty – even if his views have misled people.
Sagna played with Nasri at the Emirates between 2008-2011, while the pair were also teammates at Manchester City between 2014-2017.
And the duo also shared a dressing room while on international duty for Les Bleus.
Nasri, who announced his retirement at the age of 34 in September, is no stranger to being in the press for the wrong reasons in his career.
The two-time Premier League champion has developed a bad personality, with William Gallas claims Nasri planned to try him in 2009.
Former The Citizens coach Roberto Mancini even joked, “I want to give him a punch,” when he took action over his lack of self-control.
Nasri was also given a doping ban in 2018 after he was found to have broken World Anti-Doping Agency rules following intravenous treatment in Los Angeles.
Talk to SunSport via Freebets.com, Sagna admits that Nasri sometimes exceeds his mark, but refuses to criticize him for his actions.
He said: “Samir was crazy, on and off the pitch!
“I respect him for being honest with me, the other players and the coach but unfortunately he may have dominated some of his thoughts.
“Sometimes you don’t like something and being in a group you have to choose when to speak up.
But I’d rather have someone as honest as him, than be fake with you.
“I will always respect that side of him.”
Sagna also commented on the former Arsenal ace Abou Diaby, who was tipped to be the next Patrick Vieira, just because injury brutally robs the Gunners of his chance to become a legend.
Diaby, 35, suffered a serious ankle injury against Sunderland in May 2006, before continuing to receive further blows to the knee, thigh and groin.
He was limited to just 180 appearances after a nine-year stay in North London, and the player was forced to hang up his boots at the age of 32.
Discussing the towering central midfielder, Sagna commented: “Abou is amazing.
“Fearless with a huge talent but his injury ended with a dislocated ankle.
“Then he made up for it from somewhere else, and he never managed to get back to the same.
“He’s become fragile. An unlucky player but he’s brilliant.”
