Russia is preparing to deploy devastating “Satan 2” nuclear missiles capable of wiping out an area the size of Britain

RUSSIA is preparing to deploy its devastating intercontinental ballistic missile, dubbed Satan 2, by autumn this year, the country’s military has claimed.

Dmitry Rogozin, head of the Roscosmos space agency, revealed just days later the Kremlin’s ambitious goal of launching the Sarmat ICBM Test start in Russia the rocket.

Nicknamed Satan 2, the deadly projectile can travel 11,000 miles, carries more than 12 warheads and has the potential to destroy an area the size of Great Britain.

Rogozin said a unit is to be deployed to Uzhur, some 1,800 miles east of Uzhur Moscowwith the Satan-2 later this year, according to the state news agency Tass.

Russia successfully tested the missile on Wednesday, with video showing the huge 115-foot missile being launched from an underground silo, unleashing a huge fireball.

It covered almost the entire length of Russia – almost 3,600 miles – in about 15 minutes.

According to Russian defense sources, the missile landed at the Kura Missile Test Range on the Kamchatka Peninsula in the far east of the country.

The launch of the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile will “provide food for thought for those trying to threaten Russia,” that Russian President warned.

The separate warheads in the Satan 2 missile can detach from the 100-ton main missile before flying toward their target at supersonic speeds.

The bombs are 1,000 times more powerful than those dropped by the US on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan during World War II.

With that they are able to pulverize an area the size of England and Wales or Texas in the USA.

Only one of them contains eight megatons of TNT-equivalent explosive force.

Officials said the RS-28 Sarmat has the ability to use trajectories and unpredictable routes that “significantly hamper its destruction even by advanced missile defense systems,” according to the Kremlin.

Russia’s Defense Ministry boasted that the Sarmat ICBM was capable of defeating any missile defense system.

“Thanks to the energy-mass properties of the missile, the range of its combat equipment has fundamentally increased, both in terms of the number of warheads and types, including hypersonic gliders,” the ministry said in a statement.

Douglas Barrie, a senior fellow in military aerospace at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, said Russia’s option to shoot it over one of the Earth’s poles could pose an obstacle to ground- and satellite-based radar and tracking systems. Reuters reported.

However, the military expert said the proposed timeline for deployment by the end of the year is ambitious.

He believes more testing will be needed before Russia can use the catastrophic weapon.

A growing group of Kremlin insiders reportedly fear their Russian leader will resort to nuclear weapons to defeat Ukraine and halt a palace coup.

Some elite members in Moscow also question the President Wladimir Putin‘s invasion of his neighbor and its economic and political impact.

Putin’s critics are distributed among high-ranking positions in the government and in state-owned companies Bloomberg who cited ten sources with direct knowledge of the situation.

His opponents oppose war Ukraine was a terrible mistake and will be discontinued Russia decades back.

During an interview on Tuesday, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov gave no direct answer to repeated questions about whether Russia could use nuclear weapons in Ukraine.

This was announced by the interim US ambassador to Great Britain, Philip Reeker Sky news: “Well, as our Director of Central Intelligence, Bill Burns, said in a public hearing last week, that’s something we have to worry about.

“Putin himself addressed this. So it’s certainly something we need to watch very closely, the kind of brutality that Putin has committed – we’ve seen it before, but it’s hard to imagine what he’s doing.

“And it seems like very little will stop him, especially when he’s making threats like that.”

Former British Ambassador to Ukraine Leigh Turner said: “If Russia visibly loses this war, Putin might authorize their deployment.”

Boris Johnson said Britain was considering sending tanks to help Poland supply Ukraine with heavy weapons.

The prime minister made the embassy’s announcement at a press conference in Delhi, where he held talks with Indian leader Narendra Modi.

General Sir Chris Deverell, former commander of Britain’s Joint Forces Command, said: “I don’t think it’s a crazy idea.”
