Royal Never Give Up first defeat against LNG at LPL 2022 Spring

LNG Esports is the last team at LPL 2022 with a winning streak, which was wiped out by Royal Never Give Up with a score of 2-1 today.

LNG’s seven-game finish has shown how unpredictable the LPL can be. The bottom teams have beaten the bigger names in the league, and LNG is the last undefeated team in the LPL as of today after Edward Gaming dropped its recent winning streak.

The first match started in favor of LNG. They took the first dragon and retaliated against one of RNG’s ganks to take out 3 lives and take a pretty big lead. LNG is unstoppable, picks another dragon and pursues their opponents to finish them off.

In the mid game, RNG tried to make a comeback by catching Ale in the side lane. He survived the attack and sent the opponent into a losing teamfight, which sent RNG further back into the game. LNG took advantage of that momentum, got the Baron and put an end to the game.

RNG has faced a lot of difficulties if they want to return in this series. And they succeeded. RNG got 3 dragons in the match, but LNG managed to sneak Baron under their opponent’s nose. They try to grab targets with the Baron buff, but can’t turn that to their advantage. On the other hand, RNG took full control of the Soul Dragon and secured the Cloud Dragon Soul for a permanent reward in the match. RNG took the lead in the late game with the Corki Pack from Xiaohu, which unleashed the opponent’s Nexus to break through the bot lane and end the streak.

RNG needed to continue the momentum from the previous game to sweep the LNG back and end their all-win streak, but the early decider moments felt like a step back. LNG got two early kills in bot lane, but RNG top laner Bin did a solo kill against Ale. The RNG captured the first dragon of the match, but their opponent managed to protect the Rift Herald.

There were frequent skirmishes in the middle of the game, but Bin’s Gwen was always at the top of these skirmishes and kept them in contention during the match. The lead went to RNG after they hooked Orianna and won the dragonfight, putting Baron within reach. They grab the Baron, push the lane to react, and gain more buffs before entering LNG’s base. LNG set up a last-ditch effort, but they were unable to stave off the attack and save their winning streak.

RNG took the lead after hooking Orianna and winning the dragonfight, bringing Baron into their grasp. They get Baron and start pushing sugar to force LNG to respond to them. RNG has one more dragon and one more Baron to push through two lanes and break into the enemy base. LNG tried in the end to secure their base and get back into the match, but they couldn’t. RNG won the match and ended their winning streak in the 2022 LPL Spring Split.

While this loss doesn’t mean much for LNG, it does point to some of their shortcomings ahead of the Spring Playoffs. LNG failed to withstand the pressure, and although they entered confidently, RNG punished them severely.

The LPL 2022 Spring Split continues tomorrow with Victory Five taking on LGD Gaming in a best-of-three series. Royal Never Give Up first defeat against LNG at LPL 2022 Spring
